Kate Watson is a visual artist, researcher and educator, currently living and working in London.

Her practice combines collaboration, education, and social engagement, working in photography, print and text. Her work is an ongoing exploration of representation, shared authorship and the interactions, negotiations and power structures involved in the production of images.

Kate has worked extensively in the UK and internationally to develop and facilitate socially engaged art projects with communities and individuals, generating work through participatory research, collaboration and collective action.

Kate is an Associate Lecturer at London College of Communication and currently runs Terms of Engagement, a research programme of artist-led workshops with photography students and arts practitioners which critically explores the language of participation in socially engaged photography practice.

From 2015 – 2022, Kate has worked as Senior Projects Manager at PhotoVoice, developing and delivering participatory photography and storytelling programmes with under-represented communities across the UK and internationally, alongside supporting NGOs to communicate their stories powerfully and ethically.
