Participatory photography (or Photovoice) is a methodology or tool to engage community members in creatively making change to improve their environments by using photography; it blends a grassroots approach and social action. The process of taking photographs and subsequent group discussion amongst participants and partners, can provide new spaces for dialogue, exchange and knowledge production about personal and community issues.

Drawing upon the experience and learnings gained from delivering over 40 participatory photography projects globally, I can work in partnership with you or your organisation to design, deliver and evaluate your own participatory photography project to highlight and share community perspectives on issues you are addressing.

If you are thinking of running your own participatory photography project or incorporating participatory visual methods into your existing work, I provide training and consultancy support to build the capacity of your team to work with participatory photography methods, and provide guidance and technical expertise to help you realise this work.
